When you pay an airline to fly you to a destination there are lots of obligation placed on you as a passenger: To check-in on time, to check your luggage weights etc.
However, there are obligations on the airline too. For example, unless it is for exceptional circumstances it is not OK for them to:
The European Commission established your rights as an airline passenger under the EC Regulation 261/2004 and this covers cases of cancellations, re-routing, delays and denied boarding.
Based on this legislation it is often possible to seek a recovery of up to Euros 600 per traveller from the airline by way of compensation.
